Loganville lies in the Walton and Gwinnett counties. It is located in the western part of the county. It is 12 miles east of Monroe, 32 miles west of downtown Atlanta, 10 miles northwest of Lawrenceville, 15 miles southwest of Conyers and 16 miles northeast of Winder. According to the US Census Bureau, the city stretches over 7.4 square miles. The population of this city is 11,022 and population density is 1489.5 people per square mile.
The city is named after James Harvie Logan, who was a shoemaker and farmer from Tennessee. He purchased the original 62.5-acre land in 1842. At a sheriff sale, the property was bought for only $150. Other families settled here over the next several years. The city was incorporated in 1887 when the original limits of Loganville were extended half a mile in each direction. In 1907, 12 mercantile businesses were founded here.
The students living in Loganville are served by the Walton County Board Of Education. Based on student population, the Loganville High School recently moved to another city. The city is governed by a typical mayor-council form of Government. The mayor of this city is Dan Curry.
